It's Game Dev Tip Tuesday! Here's something I learned working on Decks Out: Always make sure to leave some empty padding in your images (even just a pixel!) so that anti-aliasing actually works.

It makes a huge visual difference!

I officially finished the full written script for my #RPGMaker project! I wrote it all in Ink and have copied most of the script calls into RPG Maker. I just have to add a few of the extra dialogue lines I came up with while I was writing that weren't in the original plans.

we recently did a playtest of our game, and noticed that players wanted to "point" at what was happening in the board, so we have implemented some synced network cursors for the task! (kinda wonky recording, is hard to move multiple cursors at the same time!)

Today I added teleportation of a player to a given point initiated by the server. Although now this is only used to teleport the player in the event of a speed hack or "passing through walls". Verification takes place on the server side.

Have other #unity3d devs experienced weird behavior with the Unity Recorder? Recordings with HDR enabled in the URP asset end up looking like they turned on Silent Hill or overexposure mode - game view / build looks fine. A tight budget usually means you're relying on organic marketing channels to promo your game. Organic channels take time to connect with players in your niche. You can ramp up closer to launch, but you should be doing SOMETHING for marketing at least 6-12 months out. #gamedev #indiedev

As of today we have ranged combat. Watch the 'wizard' throw their knife, and the 'thief' fire their bow. Also note kicking the slugs is actually to most effective attack at one point.

Don't mind the weird way the arrow flies, I'll fix that when we get better assets.

Half-Life 2 starts with a train arriving in the city. Someone should make a deep-Gothic narrative adventure with AC Syndicate asesthetic and time period, but much darker where you arrive somewhere in a freight train and have to find your way from there. Sinking City was 'close'. #indiedev #gamedev

So I spent about 10 hours yesterday hand placing about 300 objects for more beautiful details to the recent scene I showed off earlier - but oops, the stairs' collision is all "stuttery" so now I go back & adjust.

I now have a working level manager; fade-in/fade-out levels, level count tracked. When you reach the endpoint, the elevator spawns a new level. Also added some fun placeholders; weak points visuals to enemies, and a subtle head-bob while walking/sprinting. #GameDev #IndieDev #Roguelike #Godot #Day14

Seems to have helped. Notably with a few discoloration issues I kept running into with the old method. And this was just a test run with it.

One of our older cocnepts is the idea that the cave youre in shows the memories of everyone whos died in there. Unfortunately, "Is that... is that a fucking pizza hut??" Doesn't really mesh well with the tone of letting go of your religious trauma.
