I went buck wild with set gravity direction and made a tutorial for wall running inspired by Spiderman. Includes several different options for control and rotation, transitions from one surface to another and camera fandangling to support 360 degree rotations.

I just finished the mechanics for one of the switch puzzles in my #RPGMaker project. The puzzle itself is pretty straightforward, but to generate the platforms, I made use of loops and event templates, so it saved me time and was a more efficient way to generate them.

Weapon is a placeholder while the rocket launcher is worked on (it is our rifle model) but we implemented rocket jumping. It is hard to see, but the rocket is at the bottom of the video when I look down to shoot it and propel me over the wall.

Worked on swimming mechanics tonight. You have to learn the swim ability. By default you just sink to the bottom and run/jump as normal just slower/lower jumps. Learning the swim ability also lets u traverse calm water on the overworld #indiegame #gamedev #indiedev #pixelgame #zelda2like

I'm drawing multiple, varied animations for the same action - for example, idling. Then my code randomizes which displays when the action is called for or plays a particular version of the action based on, say, the environment, adding more life to the player and other characters.

So overworld bugs in Bugbuy use the A* algorhythm for pathing AI, if you turn on debug info you can see what they see!

Red are marked obstacles and they will find a random place to crawl to in the green zone.

Been working on more rooms for the mines and this little platform trap. Ultimately there will be an enemy operating it to drop stuff on the player, but they shouldn't have all the fun! So for now the player gets to be the designated pulley operator 😁

Physics on all of the tiles in a TileMapLayer has been killing the performance. So, I've added a system that only 'activates' the physics on the outer tiles as you destroy them. Now I the headroom for more physics!

I updated our project to test Unity 6 and removed a fog system. I saw a huge jump in FPS. I'm using an RTX 3060 Ti, so it's not a particularly powerful GPU #unity3D #indiedevs #gamedev

In #HelloSpace there is more to the game than simply defeating enemies. The level structure is built in a way that requires certain technologies to be used in order to overcome obstacles.

One such technology is the thrust drive that grants a short boost and invulnerability.

A major accomplishment for my #gamedev #indiedev journey has been building a state machine where it is possible to switch between 2D frame and rigged animations on the fly. It is jarring now but with more finalized artwork the switch wouldn’t be noticeable.

more animation testing; this started as a flip book in real life; then I transferred it onto a single page with a light-table; then ran it through a code-process; then booted it up in #monogame scripted with #fadebasic.
